Usanu Theatre Company
June/July 2006
Early commissioned script for Usanu Theatre Company. Embrace was a one-woman performance devised and directed by Tamara Allen-Cousins and performed by Norwegian actress Karen Ødemark. The project took Italian writer Franca Rame’s provocative monologues 'Alice in Wonderless Land' 'and 'The Rape' as the starting point for a contemporary physical theatre piece that revisited Rame's themes of sexual violence and social alienation. Text was created through an openly collaborative devising process with director and performer.

Embrace was first performed at the Pauper’s Pit, Buxton, as part of a short run at the Buxton Festival Fringe with a further performance at (what was then) the Third Floor Arts Centre, Portsmouth, during July 2006.
