Plumpton: the poster
LLL Productions
January 2013 - July 2017

In 2012, LLL Productions developed a project entitled Messages from a Sussex Village for East Sussex Arts Partnership's Word County programme, in which a sequence of posters, typeset and handprinted by Peter Chasseaud of Tom Paine Printing Press, were displayed at Plumpton Station, on the London Victoria to Eastbourne line. After the completion of the project, the Station Master at Plumpton asked if one of the posters could go back on display as it had proved very popular with local commuters. This was a poster, the wording for which was inspired by a conversation with Mark Cornford, Clerk of the Course at Plumpton Racecourse, his sentiments being reimagined by Mark C. Hewitt as a sort of public service announcement. The poster remained permanently in place at Plumpton Station from early 2013 through to the summer of 2017 and becoming the subject of a radio phone-in on BBC Radio Sussex.
